Vista Alegre, the Neighborhood and the Palace

On this tour we visit Vista Alegre and the Hermitage, and we know the history of both places. We walked through Vista Alegre's Workers' Quarters and beautiful natural sites before moving on to Quinta do Paço, the former residence of the founder of the Vista Alegre factory.

Starting from the point of origin, we proceed towards Vista Alegre without forgetting the obligatory passage on the Madeira Bridge over the Boco River, until arriving at Largo da Fábrica where you can visit the Museum, the Chapel of Vista Alegre, and the iconic works in porcelain from the Bordalo Pinheiro store. In this visit you can always enjoy to enjoy the restored Palace, the new Hotel or maybe a shopping in the Outlet shop of Vista Alegre.

After leaving Largo da Fábrica, we walk through the streets of the Vista Alegre Factory Workers' Neighborhood, observing the "Houses for the Staff" and we also know one of the most emblematic and preserved trees of Vista Alegre, which, by its size, imposes a certain respect.

We leave to Vista Alegre and in a short distance we arrive at the locality of the Hermitage. Formerly known as Couto de São Cristóvão, there is reference to this place even before the formation of Portuguese nationality. In this locality was erected a chapel in honor of Saint Kitts. In addition to the chapel, another great aspect of this locality is the Quinta do Paço Palace, with its own link to the Chapel. It was purchased in 1812 by José Ferreira Pinto Basto, founder of the Vista Alegre Porcelain Factory.
