The Bakers of Ílhavo valley and Vagos Lady

We know the history of the Bakers of Ílhavo valley, where we tasted the your bread. We go through the forest paths, Boco River passing by the source and the Pedricosa Hill and the old bridge before reaching Vague where we stopped to enjoy the sights and visit the Museum of Play. Visit the ancient Sanctuary of our Lady.

We left the point of origin in the direction of Ílhavo valley, a rural village that once had a large production of cereals and a large number of water mills. Here were created the ideal conditions for the confection of the traditional padas and folares made and improved throughout the times by the Bakers of Ílhavo valley, being recognized its importance in the form of a statue that was made in his honor.

We visited a Baker and tasted the freshly baked bread. We also know the history of the Cardadores of the Ílhavo valley, which are the popular and old face of the Entrudo.

We proceed from the statue through a beautiful forest path to Pedricosa, where, from the top of its hill, we have breathtaking views of the Boco River and Vila de Vagos. It is also here that we know the history of the House of the Pedricose residence of a noble family where there was a circular chapel (currently in ruins) dating from the 15th century.

We follow the rustic route to Vagos and in the old bridge, if you understand it, you can take a walk to the very close Jardim do Ega, to be able to contemplate the fauna and flora of this place, or to visit the Jugcar Museum, where the play is taken very seriously. After passing the center of Vagos we arrive at the chapel of Our Lady of Vagos, the ancient Marian Shrine founded in 1204 by Don Sancho I, a natural and pleasant place that transmits a true peace of mind and where it is possible to observe sculpture from the 14th century, and 16th century font and 18th century pulpit.

We know the legend involved in the construction of this sanctuary, and we set off by a rustic road towards Gafanha da Boavista, before returning to the point of origin.
